We live in the province of Padova, in the Veneto region of Northeast Italy, near Venice—an area renowned for its rich traditions of craftsmanship, including leather goods, glassmaking, and textiles. Our passion for these artisanal crafts, particularly leather products, has led us to explore what makes certain leather items, such as bags, so luxurious, desirable, and timeless —yet still trendy—in the international market.
Leatherworking mastery in Veneto dates back to the Middle Ages, when it first served local nobility and merchants. From the 13th to the 17th centuries, Venice’s maritime trade expanded this tradition, integrating global influences and exporting luxury leather goods, establishing Veneto’s enduring heritage.
In modern times, many of these artisans have grown into larger manufacturing facilities or have been acquired by multinational companies. Despite their international recognition, some of these companies have prioritized brand image and profit over preserving traditional bag-making excellence. As a result, they often emphasize exclusivity and prestige to justify higher prices, even when product quality does not match. This shift has sometimes led to a decline in material standards, with production outsourced to low-cost countries—turning bags into mass-produced items rather than authentic artisanal creations. Only a handful of brands have resisted this trend.
Inspired by this reality, we founded Ornella Gorza Ltd to design, handcraft, and sell bags worldwide, guided by our core values: using high-quality, environmentally responsible materials and partnering with skilled local artisans who bring deep expertise in luxury bag production. These artisans uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship, focusing on quality, attention to detail, and durability, while ensuring our designs remain both fashionable and timeless.
The result is a collection of bags that truly reflect our vision—fairly priced to match the intrinsic value we invest in every step of the creation process, all carried out entirely in Italy.
